Oxidized Iron, Oxidized Manganese and Sulfides
Iron, Manganese and Sulfates most commonly get into the water supply when sulfite ores are oxidized. These minerals are found in rocks and soils and seep into the ground with rain or snowmelt. Ingesting water with these minerals is not a health risk however their presence in water may cause taste, staining, and accumulation issues.

Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOCs), including (THMs)
Volatile Organic Compounds evaporate quickly, contain carbon and are volatile. When VOCs are spilled or improperly disposed of, they can seep into the ground water table. Exposure to high levels of VOCs can cause irritation to skin, affect the nervous system and cause depression. Trihalomethanes occur when chlorine reacts with organic matter in water. THMs may pose a risk in the development of cancer.
